Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

No studies were identified for the environmental fate of the high molecular weight phthalate ester Santicizer 261A. However, due to structural similarity, it is considered appropriate to read-across to the closely related high molecular weight phthalate esters DEHP (CAS No 117-81-7), DINP (CAS No 68515-48-0) and DIDP (CAS No 68515-49-1) for which studies and full EU risk assessment reports exist.   DEHP, DINP and DIDP were found to biodegrade rapidly and extensively in screening tests and their respective Risk Assessment Reports concluded that they are readily biodegradable (although DIDP fails the 10-day window criterion).   Since the molecular weight and the structure of Santicizer 261A is similar to DINP and DIDP, and also to DEHP, we would expect Santicizer 261A to exhibit similar behaviour and degradation patterns and to therefore be readily biodegradable based on read across.   A BCF of 840 for Santicizer 261A, based on read-across, indicates moderate potential to bioaccumulate.

This is supported by a calculated BCF of 2900 L/Kg wet weight for Santicizer 261A from the QSAR BCFBAF (USEPA, 2008).
