Description of key information

Since the substance is a UVCB substance with the main components 4,4'-isopropylidenediphenol, phenol and diphenyl carbonate, the partition coefficient is given as a range of these substances: log Kow = 1.46 - 3.4.

The substance was shown to mainly consist of 4,4'-isopropylidenediphenol, phenol and diphenyl carbonate whereas the individual components are characterised by the following octanol-water partition coefficients:

Phenol: 1.46

Diphenyl carbonate: 3.28

Octanol-water partition coefficients are commonly measured applying the HPLC or the shake-flask methods. Nevertheless, the experimental determination of the octanol-water partition coefficient of the whole substance is hampered due to its complex nature. Therefore, the partition behaviour can preferably be described by logPow values of identified components.
