Materials and methods

Test guideline
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 102 (Melting point / Melting Range)
Version / remarks:
resp. EU method A.1
Principles of method if other than guideline:
As the melting point which was stated by the sponsor lies outside the range of any of the methods which are given in the EU-Guideline, a different method using a pot oven was chosen in order to achieve an approx. to the melting point
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Remarks:
Landesamt für Umweltschutz und Gewerbeschutz, Rheinland-Pfalz
Type of method:
other: pot oven

yes
Decomp. temp.:
>= 490 °C

Any other information on results incl. tables

The test item Magnapore 963 showed no melting point up to a temperature of 1100 °C.

Decomposition started at 490 °C. This values lies well above 350 °C, the upper limit for registration demanded by OECD- and EU-Guidelines.

For the reference item (Copper), a melting point sufficiently close to the literature value was determined.

No obervations were made which might cause doubts on the validity of the study outcome. Therefore, the result of the study is considered valid.
