Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Additional information

The endpoints used to describe the intrinsic properties of the REACh substance are filled in with data obtained on the substance itself (i.e. without water): melting point; boiling point and density. The endpoints used to assess the classification and hazard properties of the REACh substance are filled in with data obtained on commercial products (i.e. aqueous solutions): surface tension, flash point, auto flammability, flammability, viscosity and metal corrosion.

For some endpoints, an analogy is made with the substance EC 939-455-3 (C8-18 AAPHS): substances EC 242-893-1 (target) and EC 939-455-3 (source) share indeed the same functional groups, the same general composition and the same main component (C12 alkylamidopropylhydroxysultaine).

In the following table are summarized the physico-chemical properties of the REACh substance:

Endpoint

Experimentalresult

Melting point

55°C at 101 325 Pa

Boiling point

311.6°C at 101 325 Pa

Relative density

1,304 at 20°C

Particle size distribution

Waiving in accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VII (a granulometry study does not need to be conducted as the test item is manufactured and used in a non-solid (liquid) form)

Vapour pressure

0.000000023 Pa at 20°C

Partition coefficient

2.1 at 25°C

Water solubility

556g/l at 20°C

Surface tension

38.5 mN/m at 20°C

Flash point

No flash point was observed up to 120.0 °C (aqueous solution)

Auto Flammability

396°C at 101 325 Pa

Flammability

Non flammable (aqueous solution)

Explosiveness

Non explosive

Oxidising properties

Non oxidising

Stability in organic solvents

Waiving according to column 2 of REACH annex IX column 1 of end point 7.15. The study is only required if stability of the substance is considered to be critical. Stability in solvents is not critical for this substance.

Dissociation constant

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex IX, dissociation constant (required in section 7.16) does not need to be conducted as it is scientifically not possible to perform the test (an amphoteric UVCB substance). The substance is always in an ionised form..

Viscosity

28.65 mPa.s at 20°C (aqueous solution)

Metal corrosivity

Non corrosive on metal
