Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

A key study to determine the partition coefficient of the registered substance has been commissioned with results expected at the end of May 2013. The Log Pow is expected to be low based on the very high water solubility.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Log Kow (Log Pow):
-0.41
at the temperature of:
25 °C

Additional information

The partition coefficient of the registered substance was determined in accordance with the EU Testing Guideline A.8. The log octanol-water partition coefficient (Log Pow) of the registered substance was determined to be -0.41 (mean).

In additon, an equivalent study was conducted on the structurally similar substance 6-[Methyl(phenylsulphonyl)amino]hexanoic acid, compound with 2,2',2''-nitrilotriethanol (1:1) (N-methyl salt). The Log Pow of the test substance was found to be -0.43. Results are also available from a study on a formulated product containing the registered substance which gave a Log Kow <0 (OECD 117). The partition coefficient of a formulated product containing N-methyl salt was found to be Log Kow <0 - 2.01. Read-across between the registered substance and the test substance (N-methyl salt) is considered justified owing to the structural similarity of the two substances. Both are salts of a carboxylic acid and triethanolamine. The acid components are structural isomers and differ only in the position of a single methyl group in the N-methyl salt. This is not expected to change the behavior or properties of the substances, and both substances have shown similarity in the results of other physical endpoints such as water solubility.
