First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse with plenty of water

Emergency measure - Skin: Wash skin thoroughly

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical advice

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Use normal extinguishing agents. Products of combustion may

include hydrogen fluoride, oxides of nitrogen and sulphur

with some soot.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Solid: Collect and tip in controlled site or burn in

authorised installation. Solution: Absorb using suitable

material then collect for disposal as for solids.

Handling and storage

Handling: Minimise exposure by good housekeeping and standard

occupational hygiene procedures. Avoid generating dust, if

it is produced take measures to avoid inhalation and

contact with skin and eyes. Wear gloves and head covering.

Weighing to be in an enclosed ventilation area and on low

level scales for ease of handling.

Danger other than fire: The substance slowly hydrolyses to give hydrofluoric acid.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not recoverable from textile. Recovery of residue is not

practical. The residue could not be used because the

reaction function is irreversibly modified.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: acceptable for when the substance is accidentally spilt.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Possible

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Eliminated by precipitation on sludge

of dyed articles which can be disposed of as domestic
