Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Dynamic viscosity = ca 0.95 mPa.s at 80°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Viscosity at 20°C is not relevant as the substance hexamethylene diamine is solid at ambient temperature (melting point about 40°C).

No valuable viscosity study was provided. However, historical data from 1964 to 1990 are available, as calculation and/or graphs, showing consistent results between 0.90 and 1.06 mPa.s (mean value: 0.95 mPa.s) at the use temperature of 80°C.

Hexamethylene diamine is not an hydrocarbon, and is not expected to cause human aspiration toxicity hazards based on experience, therefore a new study is not deemed necessary.
