Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

Endpoint:
toxicity to other aquatic vertebrates
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
supporting study
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: Basic experimental detail given consistent with a study used solely as supporting evidence. Testing not to particularly high concentrations so not that valuable.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Executive summary:

In a study designed to assess suitable solvents for use in toxicity testing using the amphibean Rana temporaria (common frog), ethanol was not found to cause any toxicity up to the maximum tested concentration of 0.1ml/litre (equivalent to 79mg/l).
