From the structural formula, Linalyl Formate can possibly react with water in a hydrolysis reaction to form Linalol and Formic acid. Both hydrolysis products are not gaseous. Linalyl Foramte is therefore not expected to emit flammable gases in contact with water.

From the structural formula, Linalyl Formate can possibly react with water in a hydrolysis reaction to form Linalol and Formic acid. Both hydrolysis products are not gaseous. Linalyl Formate is therefore not expected to emit flammable gases in contact with water.
This is in line with the fact that during studies such as the determination of the water solubility (Linalyl Formate: Determination of General Physico-Chemical Properties, Harlan, Study Number 41400460) reaction of Linalyl Formate with water was observed in the analysis performed, but not emission of gases.
Therefore it can be concluded beyond reasonable doubt that the contact of the substance with water or damp air will not lead to the development of dangerous amounts of gas or gases which may be highly flammable.
