- Test objective
The objective of the test is to determine the oxidizing properties of a liquid test item.
Principle
The test item is mixed in a 1 to 1 ratio by weight with dried fibrous cellulose and introduced into a pressure vessel. If during mixing or filling spontaneous ignition occurs no further testing is necessary and the test item will be considered as an oxidizer. If no spontaneous ignition occurs, the mixture is heated in a pressure vessel and the mean time taken for the pressure to rise from 690 to 2070 kPa above atmospheric pressure
is determined. This is compared with the mean pressure rise time for a 1 to 1 mixture of the 66% w/w aqueous nitric acid solution and dried fibrous cellulose. - GLP compliance:
- yes (incl. QA statement)
