Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

General Information

Implementation:
EU
Type of classification:
self-classification
Remarks:

This section describes the self-classification of the Resin Oils and Cyclic Dienes category (LOA CAT L) - Sub-group 4 (High Aromatic Cyclic Olefins diolefins and alkanes - Indene content (70% w/w)).

The classification is derived from the substances: Indene, Indan, 2 -Methylstyrene, 1,2,4 -Trimethyllbenzene, 1,3,5 -Trimethylbenzene, Naphthalene, Styrene, DCPD, Phenol.

The analytical data for the Resin Oils and Cyclic Dienes category (LOA CAT L) show that there is a clear grouping of structures, substances, and concentrations within the category which are relatively consistent, and which are helpful to identify substances which will have similar biological activity. Reviewing the data there appear to be the following subgroups within the category members and which suggests the subgroups as follow:

-Sub-group 1 - High Bicyclic olefin content with low to medium aromatics content

-Sub-group 2 - Intermediate Bicyclic olefin content, <15% indene and non-benzene aromatics

-Sub-group 3 - Moderate High Bicyclic olefin content (≤ 25%), high styrene content (>15% w/w) and non-benzene aromatics

-Sub-group 4 - High Aromatic Cyclic Olefins diolefins and alkanes - Indene content (70% w/w)
