Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information
Flammability:
The test substance pile was ignited for 2 minutes applying a flame as ignition source in the preliminary test. The flame of the gas burner did ignite the test item pile. The test item melted, burned with a yellow flame and turned into a black residue. Black smoke was observed. After removal of the ignition source, the flame extinguished after 10 seconds and no propagation of combustion was observed.
Pyrophoric solids:
The study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied.
Flammability in contact with water:
The study does not need to be conducted because the organic substance does not contain metals or metalloids and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied.
Self-heating substances / mixtures:
The test item was exposed to air at 140°C using a temperature controlled laboratory oven, a cubic stainless steel wire 10 cm sample container, NiCr/Ni thermocouples and a temperature recording device. Negative result obtained.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
Additional information
Justification for classification or non-classification
Flammable solids:
This substance does not ignite and propagate combustion by burning with flame within the 2 minutes test period.
In accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 section 2.7.2.1, this substance should not be classified as flammable solids.
Pyrophoric solids:
In accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 section 2.10.4.1, the classification procedure for pyrophoric solids need not be applied when experience in manufacture or handling shows that the substance or mixture does not ignite spontaneously on coming into contact with air at normal temperatures (i.e. the substance is known to be stable at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days)). As experience show this substance does not ignite spontaneously on coming into contact with air at normal temperature, so the classification procedure for pyrophoric solids need not be applied for this substance.
Substances and mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases:
In accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 section 2.12.4.1(a), the classification procedure for this class need not be applied if the chemical structure of the substance or mixture does not contain metals or metalloids. As no metals or metalloids present in the molecule of this substance, so the classification procedure for this class need not be applied for this substance.
Self-heating substances and mixtures:
Negative result obtained at 140°C using a 10 cm sample cube.
In accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 section 2.11.2., this substance should not be classified as self-heating substances and mixtures.
