Results
The thermograms and thermographic data for determinations 1 to 4 can be found in the attachment in the section "Attached background material".
Atmospheric pressure: Determination 1&2: 101.8 kPa
Determination 3&4: 102.1 kPa
Overall result: No boiling temperature before decomposition at approximately 220 °C (493 K).
Discussion
As a result of the initial low rate of enthalpy change during decomposition, the onset temperature could only be approximated.
Similar thermographic profiles were obtained using air and nitrogen atmospheres. This indicated that the decomposition was probably thermal and not oxidative.
The decomposition is based upon the changes in enthalpy shown in the thermograms (small exotherm starting at approximately 220 °C)
Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Conclusions:
- The test item has been determined to decompose from approximately 220 ± 0.5 °C (493 ± 0.5 K) at approximately at 102.0 kPa. As the test item decomposed, no value for boiling point could be determined.
- Executive summary:
The determination was carried out by differential scanning calorimetry, using a procedure designed to be compatible with Method A.2 Boiling Temperature of Commission Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 of 30 May 2008 and Method 103 of the OECD Guidelines for Testing of Chemicals, 27 July 1995.
Conclusion
The test item has been determined to decompose from approximately 220 ± 0.5 °C (493 ± 0.5 K) at approximately at 102.0 kPa. As the test item decomposed, no value for boiling point could be determined.
