First-aid measures
- General advice:
Prompt treatment is essential to minimize damage. If you feel unwell, seek medical advice.
- Following inhalation:
Remove person to fresh air and keep comfortable for breathing. Seek medical attention if ill effect develops.
- Following skin contact:
Take off contaminated clothing. Gently wash with plenty of soap and water. If case of redness or irritation, call a doctor.
- Following eye contact:
IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Consult an ophtalmologist if irritation persists.
- Following ingestion:
Rinse mouth out with water. Seek medical attention if ill effect develops.
- Most important symptoms and effects:
Symptoms/effects after inhalation: Dust of the product, if present, may cause respiratory irritation after an excessive inhalation exposure.
Symptoms/effects after skin contact: Dust may cause irritation in skin folds or by contact in combination with tight clothing. May cause an allergic skin reaction.
Symptoms/effects after eye contact: May cause slight irritation.
Symptoms/effects after ingestion: Ingestion may cause nausea and vomiting.
Fire-fighting measures
Extinguishing media:
Suitable extinguishing media: dry chemical powder, alcohol-resistant foam, carbon dioxide (CO2). Use extinguishing media appropriate for surrounding fire.
Unsuitable extinguishing media: high volume water jet.
Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:
Fire hazard: Non oxidizing material according to EC criteria.
Hazardous decomposition products in case of fire: May release hazardous fumes.
Advice for firefighters
Precautionary measures fire: Ensure adequate ventilation, especially in confined areas. This product is not to be used under
conditions of poor ventilation. Keep container tightly closed and away from heat, sparks and flame.
Protection during firefighting: Do not enter fire area without proper protective equipment, including respiratory protection.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures
For non-emergency personnel
Protective equipment: Wear recommended personal protective equipment.
Emergency procedures: Do not breathe dust. Mark the danger area. Evacuate unnecessary personnel. Mechanically ventilate the spillage area.
For emergency responders
Protective equipment : Wear recommended personal protective equipment.
Emergency procedures : Dike and contain spill.
Environmental precautions
Prevent from entering sewers, basements and workpits, or any place where its accumulation can be dangerous. Notify authorities if liquid enters sewers or public waters.
Methods and material for containment and cleaning up
For containment: Stop leak without risks if possible. Collect spillage.
Methods for cleaning up: Collect up the product and place it in a spare container suitably labelled. Take up mechanically (sweeping, shovelling) and collect in suitable container for disposal. Clean contaminated surfaces with an excess of water.
Handling and storage
Precautions for safe handling: Avoid dust formation. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Ensure good ventilation of the work station. People with acute or chronic allergies are not allowed to work or to be exposed to the product. Emergency eye wash fountains and safety showers should be available in the immediate vicinity of any potential exposure.
Hygiene measures: Separate working clothes from town clothes. Launder separately. Take off immediately all contaminated clothing and wash it before reuse. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Wash hands and other exposed areas with mild soap and water before eating, drinking or smoking and when leaving work. Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product.
Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities
Technical measures: Comply with applicable regulations.
Storage conditions: Store in dry, cool, well-ventilated area. Store in a closed container. Keep only in original container. Keep out of reach of children.
Incompatible products: Refer to the detailed list of incompatible materials in section 10 of the Safety Data Sheet: Stability/Reactivity.
Heat and ignition sources: Keep away from open flames, hot surfaces and sources of ignition.
