There is no experimental data available for the substance. However, there is a limit study available for the closely related substance 2 -(2 -butoxyethoxy)ethanol (DEGBE), which showed no adverse effects to daphnia magna at 100mg/L. A reliable QSAR predicts that DEGBE and DEGiBE (2 -(2 -isobutoxyethoxy)ethanol) will have very similar toxicity, with, if anything DEGBE being slightly more toxic. This supports the case that the data from DEGBE can be extrapolated to DEGiBE in a conservative manner. The data from DEGBE is sufficient to fulfill the data requirements for this end point and to conclude that DEGiBE does not need to be classified as dangerous to the environment.
