The substance 2,6-dibromo-4-cyanophenyl octanoate is hydrolytically degraded at 25 °C with a half-life of 1.7 days at pH 9, 11.5 days at pH 7 and 34.1 days at pH 5 (5.7, 38.3 and 113.5 days, recalculated to 12 °C).


Moreover, the test substance 2,6-dibromo-4-cyanophenyl octanoate is photolytically degraded in air with a half-life of 40 h, in aqueous solution with a half-life ranging from 5.2 hours to 16.7 days and in soil with a half-life of 2.2 ­ 2.6 days.
