Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
General advice:
Do not get in eyes, on skin, or on clothing
Do not breathe dust or mist
Avoid formation of dust and aerosols
Inhalation of aerosol may cause irritation to the upper respiratory tract
Eye contact:
Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes. If symptoms persist, call a physician.
Skin contact:
Wash off immediately with soap and plenty of water while removing all contaminated clothes and shoes. Wash off with warm water and soap. If symptoms persist, call a physician.
Ingestion:
Induce vomiting, but only if victim is fully conscious. Drink plenty of water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Call a physician or Poison Control Centre immediately.
Inhalation:
Move to fresh air. If symptoms persist, call a physician.
Protection of First-aiders:
Take appropriate steps to avoid fire, explosion and inhalation hazards. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing.
Notes to physician: Treat symptomatically.
Fire-fighting measures
Suitable Extinguishing Media
Use extinguishing measures that are appropriate to local circumstances and the surrounding environment. Use:. Water spray.
Carbon dioxide (CO2). Dry chemical. Foam.
Specific Hazards Arising from the Chemical
Hazardous combustion products. Hydrogen chloride gas. Nitrogen oxides (NOx).
Protective Equipment and Precautions for Firefighters
Standard procedure for chemical fires. Evacuate personnel to safe areas. Evacuate area and fight fire from a safe distance. Wear
self contained breathing apparatus for fire fighting if necessary.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:
Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Do not breathe vapors or spray mist. Wear personal protective equipment. Respirator with a dust filter.
Environmental precautions:
Do not allow material to contaminate ground water system. Prevent product from entering drains. Prevent further leakage or
spillage if safe to do so. Local authorities should be advised if significant spillages cannot be contained.
Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up:
Prevent spreading over a wide area (e.g. by containment or oil barriers)
Methods for cleaning up
Soak up with inert absorbent material. Pick up and transfer to properly labelled containers. Prevent product from entering drains.
Handling and storage
Precautions for safe handling
Handling
Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Do not get in eyes, on skin, or on clothing. Do not breathe
vapours or spray mist. Remove and wash contaminated clothing before re-use. Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product.
Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities
Storage
Keep container tightly closed. Keep in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. Polyethylene containers. Glass.
