- Conclusions:
- The mean melting point of the test item was (on 2 assays): 227.7 ± 0.5 °C. The experiment was performed until ca. 300 °C (max. for testing). Although tin content of the sample was < the iron content, the melting point is in the range of the melting point of tin (231.9 °C) rather than in the range of the melting point of iron (1536 °C). It is known that tin tends to substantially decrease the melting point of alloys in which it is present.
