Additional information

3,3-Bis[(dimethylvinylsilyl)oxy]-1,1,5,5-tetramethyl-1,5-divinyltrisiloxane is a liquid at ambient temperature and pressure, with a measured melting point of <-180°C and a predicted boiling point of 270°C. It has a predicted density of 0.91 g/cm3at 20°C, a kinematic viscosity of 2.8 mm2/s at 20°C and a measured vapour pressure of <10 Pa at 25 101°C.

The substance is not classified for flammability according to Regulation EC 1272/2008, on the basis of a measured flash point of 115°C and predicted boiling point of 270°C. It has a measured auto-ignition temperature of 230°C, and is not explosive and not oxidising on the basis of structural examination.

The substance has a predicted log Kowof 9 at 20°C and a measured water solubility of <1.0E-05 mg/l at 20°C. The substance is not surface active based on structural examination.

In contact with water, the substancewill hydrolyse slowly with a predicted hydrolysis half-life of > 200 - 2000 h at pH 7 and 20 - 25°C.  The hydrolysis products are dimethylvinylsilanol and silicic acid according to the following equation:

 4[(CH3)2Si(CH=CH2)O]4Si+ 4H2O→ 4[(CH3)2(CH=CH2)Si(OH)] + Si(OH)4
