Tetrahydrate: 402 to 3934 mg/L.
Short term effects on aquatic invertebrates ranged from 45 to 1376 mg B/L. Equivalent concentrations of potassium pentaborate would be:
Anhydrous: 184 to 5639 mg/L,
Tetrahydrate: 244 to 7466 mg/L.
Short term effects on the algae Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata (formerly Selenastrum capricorntum) were observed at 40 mg B/L.
Equivalent concentrations of potassium pentaborate would be:
Anhydrous: 164 mg/L,
Tetrahydrate: 217 mg/L.
These data support a conclusion that borates should not be classified as dangerous for the environment.
