Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In a study on ready biodegradation (EU method C4-D) the test item showed 0% degradation after 28 days while the reference substance aniline was degraded by 86% in the same timeframe. Consequently, the test item ist not readily biodegradable.
A study on inherent biodegradation (OECD 302C) reported of 41% degradation in 28 days while the reference substance sodium benzoate was degraded by 79% in the same timeframe.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
inherently biodegradable, not fulfilling specific criteria

Additional information

While the test item appears not to be readily biodegradable the study on inherent biodegradation indicates that, although the criterion as an inherently biodegradable substance is not met, it is not persistent and may be degraded on the longer term.
