Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

"Speiss, lead" is a solid, initially formed as a liquid phase in some lead smelting operations. Speiss, lead may contain copper, arsenic and other metals in the form alloys, sulphides and other compounds.

EC No. 282-366-3 / CAS No. 84195-61-8

‘Speiss, lead’ is a black/grey, odourless solid (at 20°C and 101.3 kPA) in massive form. The density will vary according to the precise composition of the sample. The density of the tested sample was 6.74 g/cm3. In the melting point test, there was no evidence of melting of the substance up to 500°C. Consequently, boiling point and vapour pressure cannot be determined. The water solubility test shows dissolution of some metal ions although these results should be used with caution.

There is no evidence of physical hazards in terms of (auto) flammability, explosivity and oxidising properties.

Studies regarding flash point, boiling point, vapour pressure, partition coefficient, surface tension, dissociation constant, stability in organic solvents, particle size distribution, and viscosity also do not need to be conducted.

Waivers are in place for all these endpoints.
