Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The distribution in a sewage treatment plant (STP) has been estimated using the SimpleTreat model (implemented in EUSES 2.1.2/Chesar 3.5), see table below. Due to the very rapid hydrolysis (half-life = 4.88 minutes at pH 7 and 20°C) of 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl isocyanate, and the rapid hydrolysis (half-life = 2.6 hours at pH 7 and 20-25°C) of its intermediate hydrolysis product, 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propylamine, the distribution calculation is done for the final hydrolysis products, 3-aminopropylsilanetriol and methanol.

3-Aminopropylsilanetriol is not expected to undergo any significant biodegradation and is predicted to have low Henry’s Law constant and low log Kow/log Koc. Therefore water is the main compartment to which it is expected to partition in a sewage treatment plant. Water is also likely to be the main compartment to which 3-aminopropylsilanetriol is expected to partition in the wider environment.
