Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

- Interpretation of results:
- other: not highly flammable
- Conclusions:
- The preliminary screening test was performed for the determination of the flammability of Vinasses.
No propagation of combustion of the test substance along 200 mm length of the pile within 4 minutes was observed. According to the guidelines, performance of the burning rate test is not required. Based on the results obtained, the test substance is considered ‘not highly flammable’. - Endpoint:
- substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases

Results
In contact with the flame of the gas burner, the test substance glowed and turned into a grey residue. Grey smoke was observed. After removal of the ignition source, no propagation of combustion of the test substance was observed.
Description of key information
Not flammable upon ignition.
No pyrophoric properties.
Does not liberate flammable gases on contact with water.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Flammability:
- non flammable
Additional information
For dry matter of Vinasses, flammability is derived from a test with Vinasses, residue of fermentation containing Corynebacterium glutamicum (EU Method A.10). Since all Vinasses are very similar in composition, flammability is as well very similar.
Based on experience in handling and use, Vinasses have no pyrophoric properties and do not emit flammable gases in contact with water; therefore, pyrophoricity and flammability are not expected for Vinasses in form of suspension/aqueous solution and paste.
Justification for classification or non-classification
No classification for Vinasses in form of suspension in water, paste and in dry matter according to the DSD (67/548/EEC) and CLP (1272/2008/EC) criteria.
