Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:
Migrated from Short description of key information:
p-Hydroxybenzoic acid is considered as not skin sensitising. The substance was not a skin sensitizer in a LLNA assay with young female mice at concentrations of 5, 10 and 25% in dimethylsulfoxide (Honarvar 2009).

Respiratory sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:
Migrated from Short description of key information:
There are no data and no information available which indicates a respiratory sensitisation by p-Hydroxybenzoic acid. There is no further study necessary according to REACH standard data requirements.

Justification for classification or non-classification

p-Hydroxybenzoic acid is considered as not skin sensitising. The substance was not a skin sensitizer in a LLNA assay with young female mice at concentrations of 5, 10 and 25% in dimethylsulfoxide (Honarvar 2009).

There are no data and no information available which indicates a respiratory sensitisation by p-Hydroxybenzoic acid. This is supported by an 11-day repeated dose inhalation study, which revealed no signs for a sensitisation of the respiratory tract (see IUCLID section 7.5.3).
