Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
partition coefficient
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
supporting study
Study period:
06 November 2015 to 26 July 2016
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 117 (Partition Coefficient (n-octanol / water), HPLC Method)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
HPLC method
Partition coefficient type:
octanol-water
Specific details on test material used for the study:
Name: TEPA C8-10 FA
Physical state: Brown liquid
Sponsor batch: BBD 02611V1-1.step
Purity: 94 %
Arrival date: 13 November 2015
Expiry date: 6 December 2017
Storage conditions: Room temperature (15 to 30°C)
Analytical method:
high-performance liquid chromatography
Key result
Type:
log Pow
Partition coefficient:
0.38 - 3
Temp.:
25 °C
Conclusions:
It was concluded that there were three components with a mean Log Pow 0.3*, and five components with mean Log Powvalues from -0.39 to 3.09.
Executive summary:

A total of eight peaks were identified as attributable to TEPA C8-10 FA. The first three peaks had retention times of ca 1.4, 1.7 and 1.9 minutes, which were less than that of formamide and therefore cannot be quantified. A fourth peak had a retention time between that of formamide and 2-butanone (ca 2.5 to 3 minutes), at ca 2.8 minutes. the log Pow values of these first four perks were therefore reported as less than the log Pow of 2-butanone which is 0.30. There were a further four peaks that were between 2-butanone and DDT and could therefore be directly quantified from the graphs in Figure 1 and Figure 2.

It was therefore concluded that there were four components with a mean log Pow < 0.30, and four components with mean Log Pow values from 0.38 to 3.09.

Description of key information

Partition coefficient was estimated by the HPLC simulation method using isocratic elution. The procedure conformed to those outlined in EU Directive 440/2008/EEC Method A8 and OECD Guideline 117.
