Preliminary test

For preliminary information the following calculated value was available (estimation software EPIWIN)

Water solubility (at 25 °C): 2884 mg/l

To 113 mg of the test item purified water was added in portions. After each addition of water the mixture was shaken vigorously for 5 minutes and was visually checked for any undissolved parts of the sample. In a volume of 1050 ml water the sample was still not dissolved completely.

Preliminary test:

Amount of test item (mg): 113

Volume of water (ml): 1050

Visual observation: not completely dissolved.

Main test

Six samples were prepared, each of which contained approx. 100 mg of the test item in 40 ml water. The samples were shaken at 30 °C for 24, 48 and 72h, respectively, then equilibrated at 20 +- 0.5 °C for at least 24h. A portion of each of the aqueous phases was taken with a pipette. After centrifugation of the test item in these clear aqueous phases of the samples was analysed by HPLC. The reading of the pH measurements was not stable.

The relative standard deviation (repeatability) of the concentrations in all six samples was smaller than 15 % and the three duplicate sets of samples showed no tendency of increasing concentration values. Thus the test was satisfactory.

Conclusions:
Result
The water solubility of the test item was determined according to OECD guideline No. 105 and EU test method A.6 (Directive 92/69/EEC, Official journal L 383 A) with the flask method.

Water solubility (at 20 °C): 5.3 mg/l
Executive summary:

The water solubility of the test item was determined according to OECD guideline No. 105 and EU test method A.6 (Directive 92/69/EEC, Official journal L 383 A) with the flask method.

Water solubility (at 20 °C): 5.3 mg/l

Description of key information

The water solubility of 3,3,5-TRIMETHYLCYCLOHEXYL METHACRYLATE (CAS 7779-31-9) was determined by an experimental study performed in accordance with the OECD 105 Test Guideline.

The water solubility of the test item was determined to be equal to 5.3 mg/l at 20 °C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
5.3 mg/L
at the temperature of:
20 °C
