Materials and methods

Test guideline
Qualifier:
no guideline followed
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Approximately 100g of sample was heated in a conical flask with the heat source provided from a hot plate. A condenser was used to collect any distillate from the substance, with a thermometer measuring the temperature of the test substance, and a second thermometer to monitor the condensate temperature. The sample was heated through a range of 100ºC to 250ºC, with the temperature of the condensate monitored throughout.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
There were no visible signs of boiling throughout the test temperature range. The boiling point of diisotridecyl phosphonate can be concluded to be greater than 250ºC.
Executive summary:

On heating the sample in a closed apparatus, no signs of boiling were visible and no temperature rise was seen at the condenser. The test was terminated at 250ºC due to the limitations of the equipment, no signs of boiling were noted.
