The burning test ESCIS was used to determine the combustibility index (BZ) of the test material.
The burning behavior at room temperature (20 °C) was BZ=3. The burning behavior at elevated temperature (100 °C) was BZ=4. The A10 test only has to be performed if BZ is ≥ 5.
Therefore thiamine hydrochloride can be excluded from the classification as flammable solid according to test A10.
In accordance with Section 1 of Annex XI of Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 (REACH), it is considered justified to omit the Flammability (Contact with Water) and Pyrophoric Properties of Solids and Liquids studies, also required under section 7.10 of Annex VII, on the basis that the testing does not appear to be scientifically necessary. The chemical structure of the test material contains no groups which would indicate potential reactivity with water or pyrophoric properties. In addition, experience of handling the material and the known chemical and physical properties of the substance suggest that it is not pyrophoric and is not flammable in contact with water.
Justification for classification or non-classification
In accordance with the criteria for classification as defined in Annex I, Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, the substance does not require classification with respect to flammability.
