Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:

GLP compliance:
yes
Type of method:
other: not specified in the test report
Surface tension:
71.7 mN/m
Temp.:
20 °C

0.05 mg/L
Remarks on result:
other: saturated aqeous solution
Surface tension:
35.1 mN/m
Temp.:
20 °C
Conc.:
100 vol%
Remarks on result:
other: pure substance

Due to the very low water solubility of the substance no significant lowering of the surface tension has been expected. Thus, also the surface tension of the pure substance has been determined.

Conclusions:
The surface tension of the saturated aqueous solution of the test item is 71.7 mN/m and 35.1 mN/m of the pure substance (each value measured at 20 °C).
Executive summary:

The surface tension of the saturated aqueous solution of the test item is 71.7 mN/m and 35.1 mN/m of the pure substance (each value measured at 20 °C).

Description of key information

Additional information

The surface tension of the saturated aqueous solution (water solubility < 0.05 mg/L) of the test item was determined according to the ring method (EU-method A5; GLP; RL1; Hüls, 1991) to be 71.7 mN/m at 20°C, i.e not significantly different from pure water. It is therefore not surface active. The surface tension of the pure substance according to the ring method amounted to 35.1 mN/m at 20 °C.
