Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
relative self-ignition temperature (solids)
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
November 19, 2021 - November 22, 2021
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.16 (Relative Self-Ignition Temperature for Solids)
Version / remarks:
EC No. 440/2008
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Key result
Relative self-ignition temperature:
397 °C

Individual results:

3.01 g of the test item were filled into the stainless-steel wire mesh cube and placed in the oven at 28 °C. At approximately 186 °C an exothermal process started. The sample exceeded a temperature of 400 °C at an oven temperature of 397 °C. At the end of the oven heating (400 °C) the sample reached a maximum temperature of 401 °C. After the measurement only ash residues remained in the stainless-steel wire mesh cube and a mass loss of approx. 97 % was determined.

Executive summary:

The test item Disperse Red 153 showed a self-ignition temperature of 397 °C according to the testing guideline for auto-flammability (solids - determination of relative self-ignition temperature) in the sense of the European Commission Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008, method A.16.

[1] It cannot be excluded that other test methods (e.g. Grewer-Oven or UN N.4) would show a different result.

Description of key information

The test item Disperse Red 153 showed a self-ignition temperature of 397 °C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Autoflammability / Self-ignition temperature at 101 325 Pa:
397 °C

Additional information

The test item Disperse Red 153 was tested for self-ignition according to the testing guideline for auto-flammability (solids - determination of relative self-ignition temperature) in the sense of the European Commission Regulation (EC) No. 440/2008, method A.16.

The self-ignition temperature determined is 397 °C.
