Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Do not delay. Remove to fresh air. Give artifical

respiration if necessary. Seek medical attention in all

cases. In all cases remove contaminated clothing.

Emergency measure - Eyes: Do not delay, rinse with water for 10 minutes. Seek medical

attention if irritation persists.

Emergency measure - Skin: Do not delay, wash with soap and water. Seek medical

attention if irritation persists.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Give nothing by mouth. Seek medical

attention and treat symptomatically.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Combustion products may contain carbon, sulphur and

nitrogen oxides together with some soot. Suitable

extinguishing agents are carbon dioxide, dry chemical

powder, water spray, foam, sand and earth. The substance is

explosive and is highly flammable above 70 deg C; seek

specialist advice. Protective clothing and a self-contained

apparatus should be worn.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Wear protective clothing. Collect spilt material using a

vacuum cleaner, approved for use in flammable/explosive

atmospheres, with a high-efficiency filter. Dispose of

waste material by incineration in small quantities (<10

Handling and storage

Handling: Use in a fume cupboard or with local exhaust ventilation.

In the event of inhalation risk, use a full face respirator

with a particulate filter. Wear overalls, dust tight

goggles, tight gauntlet gloves (PVC) and chemical-resistant

safety boots without laceholes.

Storage: Store in a cool dry area out of direct sunlight and away

from acids, flammable products, toxicants, oxidising agents

and highly combustible materials. Avoid shock and sources

of impact.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: Substance evolves nitrogen on heating above 70 deg C

forming a tar on self-reaction. Substances of this type

have caused skin sensitisation in workers. If symptoms

occur, remove from contact with all chemicals of this type.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery for reuse is not possible.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: The acidity may be neutralised by treatment with sodium

carbonate solution.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: The substance may be disposed of in small quantities (<10

kg) at an approved facility with waste gas treatment to

remove nitrogen and sulphur oxides.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery from polymers is not possible.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable when incorporated in a polymer.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Polymers conatining the substance may be disposed of as

domestic waste.
