- PREPARATION AND APPLICATION OF TEST SOLUTION
A saturated solution of the test substance in dilution water was prepared by weighing 1000 mg/L test substance in dilution water and by shaking for 24 hours followed by membrane filtration (0.45 µm). The test solutions were prepared from stock solution by dilution. The concentrations of the test solutions were determined analytically at 0h and 48 h. Since not enough test animals were available, only two concentrations were used (dilution 1/10 and 2/10 and control).
In a second part 4 concentrations were tested (solution were prepared as described above): saturated solution, 4/10, 6/10, 8/10 and control - Test organisms (species):

- Conclusions:
- The effect of the test item on Daphnia magna (age: < 24 h) was assessed in a 48 h acute toxicity test conducted in Elend-M4 freshwater, following OECD 202 (1984). 6 concentration (between 70 and 692 mg/L) were tested resulting in an EC50 (48h) of 170 mg/L (mean measured value, dissolved test item).

Additional information
The toxic effect of the test item to Daphnia magna (age: < 24h) was examined according to OECD 202 (1984) under static freshwater conditions over a period of 48 hours. In the definitive test, each test concentration and the control was tested with 4 replicated with five daphnids each. Effect concentrations were calculated based on mean measured dissolved test item concentration although analytical recoveries were in the range of 80 to 120 % throughout the test. After 48 hours of exposure the test item was found to immobilise Daphnia magna at concentrations < 70 mg/L (NOEC). The corresponding 48-hour EC50 value was calculated with 170 mg/L (95 %-CI: 140 -200 mg/L).
