Reported statistics and error estimates:
Probit analysis could not be carried out due to the steep dose response curve. As the factor for the concentration steps was 2.2 (third root of 10), no further concentrations were tested. After 24 and 48 hours the LC50 range is given. After 72 and 96 hours the LC 50 is specified as the geometric mean of the LC0 and LC 100

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Conclusions:
Under the conditions of this test the LC50 of dimethy-2-nitroterephthalate is 7.1 mg/L (based on nominal concentrations) rsp. 2.7 mg/L (based on measured concentrations.)
Executive summary:

The 96 -hour acute toxicity study dimethy-2-nitroterephthalate in zebrafish (Danio rerio) was conducted in a semistatic system with renewal of the test solution in 24 hours interval, because in a static system the test substance was not analytically detectable in a sufficient degree for 96 hours. The nominal concentrations tested were 0.5, 1.0, 2.2, 5., 10.0 mg/L and a control (0 mg/L).

Symptoms and mortality (7/7) werde observed at 10 mg/L. The 1 - 5 mg/L groups exhibited symptoms but no mortality. The 0.5 mg/L group showed no effect in comparison with the control. In the control group no mrtality was observed.

Under the conditions of this test the LC50 of dimethy-2-nitroterephthalate is 7.1 mg/L (based on nominal concentrations) rsp. 2.7 mg/L (based on measured concentrations.)
