Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
Let in fresh air. Immediately remove person concerned out of danger area. In all cases of doubt, or when symptoms persist, seek medical attention.
After skin contact: Wash away with soap and water and rinse. Immediately remove all contaminated clothing. After first aid treatment immediately seek medical advice.
After eye contact: Remove contact lenses, keep eyelids open. Flush with plenty of water (10 - 15 min). In all cases of doubt, or when symptoms persist, seek medical attention.
After ingestion: Call a physician.
Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed: None known.
Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed: None.
Fire-fighting measures
Adapt extinguishing measures to suit the environment. When extinguishing fires, use breathing apparatus with an independent source of air. Cool endangered containers with water in case of fire. Run-off water may be highly acidic and should be neutralized if possible.
Extinguishing media:
Suitable extinguishing media: Sand, foam, CO2, dry extinguisher.
Unsuitable extinguishing media: Water.
Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture: Not combustible under normal conditions. If involved in a fire it will support combustion In case of fire do not breathe fumes.
Hazardous combustion products may include intense heat, dense black smoke, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, hydrocarbon fragments, phosphine, fragments of phosphite/phosphate esters and oxides of phosphorus.
Advice for firefighters: None.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures: None.
Environmental precautions: Do not empty into waters or drains. If the product contaminates lakes, rivers or sewages, inform appropriate authorities in accordance with local regulations.
Methods and material for containment and cleaning up: Contain and collect spillage with non-combustible absorbent materials, e.g. sand, earth, vermiculite, diatomaceous earth and place in container for disposal according to local regulations
Handling and storage
The usual precautionary measures for the handling of chemicals have to be observed. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Keep away from ignition sources and provide for good ventilation. Exposure to humidity can cause hydrolysis producing phosphorous acid. Keep away from excessive heat, sparks and flame.
Precautions for safe handling: None.
Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities: Containers should be kept dry and sealed.
Storage class (VCI) : 10

Exposure controls / personal protection
The usual precautionary measures for the handling of chemicals have to be observed.
Use protective gloves. Wear approved safety goggles.
Stability and reactivity
This substance is not stable and in contact with air/humidity it decomposes to form butanol and phopshorous acid
Reaction with oxidizing agents possible.
Hazardous decomposition products: Carbon dioxide, Carbon monoxide, Oxides of phosphorous, Phosphine.
Disposal considerations
Do not empty the product into drains and waters without primary treatment and do not store on public depositories.
Pass on to an appropriate incinerating plant or depository or recycling.
