Results and discussion

% Degradation
Parameter:
% degradation (CO2 evolution)
Value:
50
Sampling time:
29 d
Remarks on result:
other: HCl added on the 28th day (last CO2-measurement on the 29th day)
Details on results:
In the toxicity control more than 25% degradation occurred within 14 days (based on ThCO2). Therefore, the test substance was assumed to be not inhibitory.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Interpretation of results:
other: STI571 Y5A was degraded significantly (50 and 58%) However, since at least 60% biodegradation was not reached within 28 days, within ten days of biodegradation exceeding 10%, the criterion for ready biodegradability was not met.
Conclusions:
The test material was degraded significantly during the test period. However, since at least 60% biodegradation was not reached within 28d, within10 d of biodegradation exceeding 10%, the criterion for ready biodegradability was not met. Thus, under the conditions of this test the test material was not readily biodegradable.
