Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets
Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. If necessary, seek medical attention.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Irrigate immediately with running water for at least 5
minutes.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash under running water or in a shower.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting, seek medical attention.
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: Recommended extinguishing agents: Water-spray, dry
chemical, carbon dioxide and foam may be used.
Product arising from burning: Products arising from pyrolysis: Combustion products will
contain carbon oxides.
Protective equipment: Protective equipment: Wear a respirator, avoid smoke
inhalation.
Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: Contain spillage. Absorb using sand, earth or similar
absorbent material (mix in vigorously to assist
absorption). Collect with a rubber shovel and transfer to
drums or plastic bags for disposal by incineration. Prevent
from flowing into ground water or surface waters.
Handling and storage
Handling: Do not smoke in the work area. Avoid formation of dry
distillation residues (peroxides are formed). Appropriate
safety precautions should be observed for this highly
flammable substance. Wear protective clothing made of
anti-static material.
Storage: Store in suitable containers in a well ventilated area.
Ensure good ventilation to avoid formation of explosive
vapour/air mixtures. Ensure containers are earthed
(grounded); use only spark-proof systems. Protect from
sunlight, explosive peroxides may be formed.

Stability and reactivity
Danger other than fire: Other dangers: Formation of explosive peroxides is
possible.
Chemical reaction with water: Chemical reaction with water: None reported.
Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery for reuse is not economically possible
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Recommended method (with care - Highly flammable)
Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended
Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance itself will not enter the public domain
