First-aid measures

- General advice:

Seek immediate medical advice.

- Following inhalation:

Take affected persons into fresh air. At high levels, cardiac arrhythmia may occur.

- Following skin contact:

Immediately wash with water and soap and rinse thoroughly. In case of frost bites, rinse with plenty of water. Do not remove clothing.

- Following eye contact:

Rinse opened eye for several minutes under running water.

- Following ingestion:

If symptoms persist consult doctor.

- Most important symptoms and effects: Frost bites. Causes asphyxiation in high concentrations. May cause an abnormal hearth rhythm and prove suddenly fatal.

Fire-fighting measures

- Suitable extinguishing media:

CO2, powder or water spray. Fight larger fires with water spray or alcoholic resistant foam.

- Unsuitable extinguishing media:

Water with full jet.

- Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:

Formation of toxic gases is possible during heating or in case of fire. Hydrogen fluoride (HF).

- Advice for fire fighter: Wear fully protective suit.

Accidental release measures

- Personal precautions:

Keep people at a distance and stay on the windward side.

- Protective equipment and emergency procedures:

Wear protective equipment. Keep unprotected persons away. Ensure adequate ventilation.

- Environmental precautions:

Do not allow to enter sewers/surface or ground water. Discharge into the environment must be avoided.

- Methods and material for containment and cleaning up: Use explosion-proof equipment. No sparking tools should be used. Ventilate the area. Allow the evaporate.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:

Waste air is to be released into the atmosphere only via suitable separators.

Open and handle receptacle with care.

Do not breath vapor. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing.

Use only in well-ventilated areas.

Do not remove screw cap until immediately ready for use.

Information about fire and explosion protection:

Keep ignition sources away. Do not smoke.

Protect against electrostatic charges.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:

Requirements to be met by storerooms and receptacles:

Store only in unopened original receptacles.

Store in a cool location.

Further information about storage conditions:

Keep container tightly sealed.

Store in cool, dry conditions in well sealed receptacles.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Exposure controls/personal protective equipment/General protective and hygienic measures:

Wash hands before breaks and at the end of work.

Keep away from tobacco products.

Respiratory protection: Wear respirator for organic gases, where leakage may occur. Use suitable respiratory protective device in case of insufficient ventilation.

Protection of hands: The glove material has to be impermeable and resistance to the product/the substance/the preparation.

Eye protection: Tightly sealed goggles.

Body protection: Avoid skin contact with leaking liquid (danger of frostbite). Wear suitable protection equipment.

Stability and reactivity

Chemical stability:

Thermal decomposition/conditions to be avoided:

No decomposition if used according to specifications.

Keep away from heat and sources of ignition.

Decomposes under high temperature. Some risk may be expected of corrosive and toxic decomposition products.

Materials to be avoided:

Alkali or alkaline earth metals - powdered Al, Zn, Mg, etc.

Contamination of oxygen.

Incompatible materials: No further relevant information available.

Hazardous decomposition products:

Decomposition products may be produced such as: Hydrogen fluoride, trifluoroacetic acid.

Hazardous reactions:

Polymerization or decomposition may occur under pressure.

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods: Dispose according to legal requirements.

Uncleaned packaging: Legal requirements are to be considered in regard of reuse or disposal of used packaging materials.
