Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The LC50 (14-day) in Eisenia foetida (earthworm) is > 1000 mg/kg dry weight soil.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A key study in accordance with the State Environmental Protection Administration of China. Guidelines for testing of chemicals. 207 (2004) has been performed.

After a preliminary range-finding study, 10 earthworms were exposed to a limit concentration of 1000 mg/kg dryweight of the test material in artificial soil for a period of 14 days (4 replicates/test concentration and blank control). Observations of mortality and behaviour were made on Day 7 and Day 14 of the test. Total and average weights of the earthworms were measured at the beginning of the study and at termination (Day 14).

No mortality was noted in either the preliminary study or the definitive test. No other observations were noted. The results of a positive control and a blank control confirm the validity of the test system.

The LC50 (14-day) in Eisenia foetida (earthworm) is > 1000 mg/kg dry weight soil.

In the absence of toxicity in the earthworm study and in the absence of direct or indirect release to soil (the substance is readily biodegradable and will not be released indirectly to soil via waste water), no additional terrestrial studies will be performed.
