Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The surface tension of the test substance was determined to be 58.0±0.5 mN/m at 25°C using plate method.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Experimental determination of the surface tension of test substance was performed using the plate method in accordance with EU A5. A Kruss K12 Tensiometer LIMS 0635 was used to measure surface tension while concentration analysis was done via HPLC using a Waters LC LIMS 0741.2.

For calibration, the surface tension of Milli Q water was measured at 72.27 mN/m at 25.1°C. As this value did not deviate by more than ±0.5 mN/m from the literature value of 71.90 mN/m, the calibration was considered to be successful.

The surface tension of the 90% saturation concentration test solutions was determined at 58.10 mN/m and 57.81 mN/m for test solutions 1 and 2, respectively. The mean surface tension was calculated to be 58.0±0.5 mN/m.

Accordingly, the test substance does appear to be surface active, i.e. < 60 mN/m.
