Description of key information

In accordance with section 1 of REACH Annex XI, the study does not need to be conducted. This substance is a mixed oxide of ZnO and Fe2O3, which will not react exothermally with flammable substances due to its chemical structure. According to the tables for potentials of electrochemical reactions (see CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics), the Zn2+ ion has a strongly reducing character. The oxidation potential of the Fe3+ ion is considerably lower than the potential of the reference substances used in UN method O.1 or EC method A17. Therefore, this compound does not have any oxidizing properties.
