Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
General:
If you feel unwell seek medical advice (show this information or the container label where possible). Do not give anything by mouth to unconscious person.
Inhalation:
Remove to fresh air, Seek medical attention immediately.
Skin:
Remove any contaminated clothing, completely launder clothing to ensure that no contaimination remains before reusing clothing.
Wash skin thoroughly with soap and water for at leact 15 minutes. If skin irritation occurs seek medical attention immediately.
Eye:
Hold eyelids apart and flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical attention.
Ingestion:
If the subject is concious rinse the mouth with water and make the subject drink 1 to 2 glasses of water, seek medical attention immediately.
Fire-fighting measures
EXTINGUISHING MEDIA: Use extinguishing measures that are3 appropriate to local circumstances and the surrounding environment.
HAZARDOUS COMBUSTION PRODUCTS: Thermal decomposition products may include but are not limited to:
Hydrogen bromide.
Bromine
Carbon dioxide
Carbon monoxide
THERMAL DECOMPOSITION TEMPERATURE: >228ºC
SPECIFIC HAZARDS DURING FIRE FIGHTING: Burning produces noxious and toxic fumes. Thermal decomposition can lead to release of irritating gases and vapours. The product itself does not burn.
SPECIAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT FOR FIRE-FIGHTERS: In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus. Use personal protective equipment.
FIRE FIGHTING INSTRUCTIONS: Keep people away. Isolate fire area and deny unnecessary entry. Smoke from fires is toxic; take precautions to protect personnel from exposure. In the event of an adjacent fire, cool containers with water spray.
FLASH POINT: None
AUTOIGNITION TEMPERATURE: Not applicable
FLAMMABILITY LIMITS: Not flammable
OTHER FLAMMABILITY INFORMATION: None.
MEDIA TO BE AVOIDED: None known.
Accidental release measures
PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS: Use personal protective equipment.
ENVIRONMENTAL PRECAUTIONS: Should not be released into the environment. Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system.
METHODS FOR CONTAINMENT/METHODS FOR CLEANING UP: Sweep up and shovel into suitable labelled containers for disposal.
Handling and storage
HANDLING: Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Wear personal protective equipment. Avoid creating dust. Avoid inhalation, ingestion and contact with skin and eyes, use appropriate PPE where necessary.
STORAGE: Keep in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. Keep container tightly closed. Protect containers against damage. Keep away from heat.
OTHER DATA: Stable under recommended storage conditions.

Exposure controls / personal protection
ENGINEERING CONTROLS: Adequate general ventilation is recommended when handling to control airborne levels. Use with local exhaust ventilation. Use mechanical ventilation for general area control.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
Eye/face protection: Safety glasses with side-shields or Safety goggles.
Hand protection: Neoprene gloves.
Skin and body protection: Impervious chemically resistant clothing. Ensure body is covered to prevent casual contact with dust. Remove any contaminated clothing on completion of work and launder to ensure complete removal of any contamination before reuse.
Respiratory protection: In the case of dust or aerosol formation use respirator with an approved filter. Respirator with a dust filter.
Industrial Hygiene Measures: Wash thoroughly after handling. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse.
Stability and reactivity
CHEMICAL STABILITY: Stable under normal conditions.
CONDITIONS TO AVOID: Avoid high temperatures.
INCOMPATIBILITY WITH OTHER MATERIALS: Avoid contact with strong oxidising agents.
HAZARDOUS DECOMPOSITION: Decomposition will normally only occur if product is heated above the decomposition temperature of about 228ºC when hydrogen bromide (HBr), Bromine, Carbon dioxide or Carbon monoxide may be released.
HAZARDOUS POLYMERIZATION: Will not occur.
Disposal considerations
DISPOSAL: Dispose of as hazardous waste in compliance with local, regional and national regulations. Dispose of wastes in an approved waste disposal facility.
