Description of key information

The effect of the test item on the growth of Scenedesmus subspicatus has been investigated in the course of this acute algal growth inhibition test on Scenedesmus subspicatus over a 72-hour period. An ErC50 value of greater than 100 mg/L was found.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
100 mg/L

Additional information

In a 72-hour acute toxicity study, the cultures of scenedesmus subspicatus were exposed to the test material at nominal concentrations in the range 1 -100 mg/L under static conditions in accordance with the EU method C.3. As the test item is poorly soluble in water, the Water Accommodated Fraction (WAF) was taken for testing and the nominal concentrations were used for assessing the effects. Based on the growth rate an ErC50 value of greater than 100 mg/L was found.
