During the cooling phase the test item showed no thermal effects down to a temperature
of -90 °C.

During the heating phase a distinct endothermic effect was observed in the temperature range of -55 °C to -45 °C, which can be assigned to the melting of the test item. As the onset temperatures in both tests deviate by more than 0.5 K from their mean value of -52.82 °C, the test item has a melting range of -54 °C to -52 °C.
An exothermic effect was observed starting at a temperature of approx. 190 °C with an average energy release of -170 J/g. The exothermic effect is interrupted by an endothermic effect in the temperature range of 230 – 250 °C, which could be caused by an evaporation of gaseous decomposition products. The endothermic effect is directly followed by an exothermic effect with an average energy release of -180 J/g. A further endothermic effect was observed in the
temperature range of 440 – 490 °C.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The test item Triethylene glycol dimethanesulfonate (CAS no. 80322-82-3) has a melting range of -54 °C to -52 °C at atmospheric pressure (1011 hPa) as determined by Differential Scanning Calorimetry according to Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 Method A.1. and OECD Test Guideline 102 (1995).
Executive summary:

The test item Triethylene glycol dimethanesulfonate (CAS no. 80322-82-3) has a melting range of -54 °C to -52 °C at atmospheric pressure (1011 hPa) as determined by Differential Scanning  Calorimetry according to Regulation (EC) No 440/2008 Method A.1. and OECD Test Guideline 102 (1995).
