Acute invertebrate, fish, and algal studies are available for DMATO or mixtures containing DMATO. Activated sludge respiration inhibition, acute fish toxicity, acute daphnia immobilization, chronic daphnia reproduction, and algal inhibition studies were conducted for high purity DMATO.

In addition to this an algal inhibition study was conducted with a mixture containing DMATO. The 72 -hour algal EL50 for growth was found to be >32 mg/L and the NOEL was found to be 0.32 mg/L, while the 48 -hour EL50 for Daphnia magna was found to be 0.75 mg/L.

A fish acute test was conducted according to the threshold approach recommended by ECHA. The 96 -hour EL50 was found to be >1.0 mg/L. In addition to this a chronic Daphnia magna reproduction test was conducted and the NOEL was determined to be 0.75 mg/L.

The three hour activated sludge EC50 was found to be >1000 mg/L with a NOEC of 100 mg/L. .
