Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Adsorption/Desorption

Koc values of 1324 or 20,735 (log Koc 3.1219 or 4.31.67) were estimated for mono- and distyrenated phenol, respectively (ca. < 70 and < 40 % w/w in phenol, styrenated) using calculated log Kow values for both substances (programs in US EPA EPI Suite v.4.11). These values indicate phenol, mono- & distyrenated to have a low mobility and a considerable accumulation potential in soil/sediment (MWC, 2016).

The log Kow value for distyrenated phenol calculated by a different method (TGD EC 2003) was considerably higher (67795).

Henry’s Law constant

Henry's Law Constant was determined using an accepted calculation method (US EPA EPI Suite v.4.11). Calculation is based on the measured values for vapour pressure and water solubility and an average molecular weight of the technical product phenol, mono- & distyrenated. Thus the HLC of 0.0359 Pa m³/mol is valid for phenol, mono- & distyrenated.

Phenol, mono- & distyrenated will predominantly distribute into soil and sediment.
