Additional information

The hydrolytic behaviour of the test substance as function of pH of Fe(3Na)EDDHSA (CAS 84539-54-8) was not investigated experimentally so far. Therefore, a read-across approach to Fe(3K)EDDHSA (EC 462-490-6) is intended.

This substance was investigated in an experiment carried out at 50 °C at pH 4, 7 and 9 in an experiment following the principles of EU Method C.7 (Groult, 2001). The test was performed under sterile conditions and in vessels protected from light. Samples were taken after 2.4 h, 3 d and 5 d. An aliquot of each sample was diluted and analysed by High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) with UV detection. The concentrations of the test substance were determined from a calibration curve obtained by linear regression analysis of respective peak area versus concentration of standard solutions. No significant pH variation was observed at any time and at each pH a hydrolysis lower than 10 % was indicated after duration of 5 days. In agreement with the guidelines, the experiment was considered as complete. Therefore, the test substance is an hydrolytically stable compound and its half-life at 25 °C will be greater than 1 year.
