Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

For 3-Isocyanatomethyl-3,5,5-trimethylcyclohexyl isocyanate, oligomers, reaction products with 3,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazole the partition coefficient was determined by the HPLC-method according to OECD TG 117.

The test item is a mixture of constituents represented by an idealized structure. Applying the prescribed HPLC column according to OECD TG 117 the HPLC chromatogram of the test item shows 3 peaks > 1 area-%.

The large distribution of signals detected at approx. 25 – 33 min represents the main part of the test item with an amount of approx. 96 area % and was calculated as one peak.

No calibration substance with a Pow-value above the value for peak 3 of the test item was available. For this reason the result for these signal was extrapolated, but taken into account for calculation of the average log Pow value.

The partition coefficient of the main component of the test item is log Pow 8.8 at 25 °C and pH 7.3.

Area % weighted log Pow for all peaks of the test item calculated with the area % of each detected HPLC peak and its corresponding log Pow value:

log Pow (average): 8.6 at 25 °C and pH 7.3 (100 area % of the test item).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Log Kow (Log Pow):
8.6
at the temperature of:
25 °C

Additional information

The reference Pow-values in the OECD guideline presumably refer to 25 °C. Even though the column temperature was 40 °C, this temperature has no influence on the result of the determination. Therefore the Pow-value of the test item determined within this study also refers to 25 °C.
