Additional information

The following information is available from key studies assessing the aquatic toxicity of RSS-4:

Short-term toxicity to fish:

RSS-4 was not considered to be acutely toxic to rainbow trout when dissolved in water at 96.1 mg/L (measured concentration).

96h-LC50 > 96.1 mg/L

96h-NOEC >= 96.1 mg/L

Short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates:

RSS-4 was not considered to be acutely toxic to Daphnia magna when dissolved in water at 102 mg/L (measured concentration).

48h-EC50 > 102 mg/L

48h-NOEC >= 102 mg/L

Toxicity to aquatic algae:

Exposure of Selenastrum capricornutum to RSS-4 at a mean measured level of 81.4 mg/L did not result in a significant reduction of either the average specific growth rates or the mean biomass values compared to control cultures.

72h-EC50 > 81.4 mg/L (both for biomass and growth rate)

72h-NOEC >= 81.4 mg/L (both for biomass and growth rate)

Toxicity to microorganisms:

The test substance is not inhibitory to the bacterial inoculum.

NOEC >= 10 mgC/L = NOEC >= 17.7 mg RSS-4/L.
