In the key study with a typical material of one company using the laser diffraction method the particle size of lanthanum oxide ranged between 0.3 µmand 300 µm, the mass median diameter (MMD) was determined to be 24 µm.

In the key study with a typical material of one company using the laser diffraction method the particle size of lanthanum oxide ranged between 0.3 µm and 300 µm, the mass median diameter (MMD) was determined to be 24 µm. The particle size distribution was found to range from approximately 0.3 µm to 100 µm. 5% had a mean particle size of 3.7 µm, 90% were below 50 µm. A summary of the data of different companies revealed that 10% of the particles are typically in the range of 1 to 5.5 µm and 90 percent between 17 and 60µm.
